City Apartment in Trujillo

Furnishing, concept and development of storytelling

THE REQUEST

This brand-new apartment was purchased empty on the 12th floor of this brand-new building in the city of Trujillo in northern Peru. It needed new furnishings, decor, and a compelling story, to suit local people and some tourist, hence the issue of needing to match any of them.  Locals must feel in a contemporary European place and Europeans should feel in a local place.

THE DESIGN

I bought all the furniture online and had it delivered on site for the putting together. Some pieces were made by artisans and acquired in local handcraft markets. I mixed these with images of the old city to give the project a sense of place. I wanted people to feel as if they have walked into a local upscale place to eat the best local cuisine.
