I met Katerina, the client behind this project, at a social group in Bali. We soon embarked on a journey to bring her dream of creating accommodations on the island of Gili Air in Lombok to life. The idea was to create a brochure she could send to potential investors in Spain, where she lives. The project featured a few bungalows, communal spaces to relax and share, and her own rooms with breathtaking views of the vastness of Gili Air.
The result was four cottages designed in a typical tropical style, each featuring an outdoor veranda with its own daybed. Surrounding the cottages were outdoor bathrooms, harmoniously integrated with nature, and showers under the open sky. The common areas were all open, allowing for great ventilation and a profound connection with the surrounding nature, the pool, and the gardens. The gardens were lush and reminiscent of a tropical jungle. Additionally, the kitchen was open, providing a space for cooking classes to take place. The pool was divided into two parts, with a shallow end for cocktail parties and a deep end for swimming. A stone bridge divided the pool and connected the main area with a yoga Shala, perfect for hosting yoga sessions and other events.
