Historic Marsano Apartment

Interior design and storytelling

The Marsano Building is a classic and traditional building from 1947. This particular apartment needed to be refurbished to be used a short-term holiday rental unit. There was a need to have a story behind the design so the apartment would offer some storytelling to its future guests.

I wrote an endearing love story between a Peruvian archaeologist and his lover, a Catalan painter who lived in this apartment until their final breaths. As a result, the décor was inspired by their story, with a modern eclectic design that incorporated used pieces representing each decade of their love affair. Decorative elements such as pre-Columbian Peruvian pottery and replicas of the Catalan painter Miró were used, and original architectural details such as mosaics, mouldings, baseboards, and coffered doors were preserved. A few pieces of furniture were purchased from local antique stores.

A design that pays homage to the various decades that witnessed this love story
